FAQs

Y’all, what should I expect?

Good times, and some hard work. But mostly good times. In all seriousness, there’s a lot on the site about the work we’re going to do, but if you know any of us, you know having a good time is the top priority. Don’t be intimidated, you’ll be fine.

How do I RSVP?

We’ll open electronic submissions when we send out the official invitation for the event. One note: If you attended last year’s Oktoberfest, you are on the list until you tell us you can’t make it.

What should I wear? What’s the weather like?

The average temp this time of year in Marble is roughly 62 degrees during the day and 34 degrees at night. The elevation is 7,000+ feet, depending on where you stand. At elevation, the humidity is pretty low and the sun is pretty bright. It almost always feels warmer than the temperature during the day, and it’s pretty tolerable (but chilly) at night.

How do you suggest I get there?

Logistics are certainly the biggest question around the event. So let’s talk about your options from the skies, first and foremost.

  • DENVER: If you are flying, the biggest hub airport is Denver. That is roughly less than four hours from Marble, and rental car prices are nuts right now. If you fly to Denver, coordinating on a carpool plan with others would be wise because it’s certainly out of our personal shuttle zone.

  • ASPEN: If you can find the right combo of flights, this is your best option. For anyone flying into Aspen, we’ll coordinate one or two pickup times on the 29th and 30th, and one or two dropoff times on the 3rd. Worst case scenario is you arrive a few hours before our pickup time, and you can grab an Uber into Aspen and grab a drink or a Prada bag. You do you.

  • GRAND JUNCTION & MONTROSE: A little less than two hours away, these are smaller regional airports that you might find a random deal on flights for and that might have reasonable rental options, despite the shortage, due to their locations.

Other questions around flying include trying to pack a tent or sleeping bags or both. Understandable. We feel we’ll have enough locals or drivers with tents that you packing your own won’t be necessary.

DRIVING: If you’ve got the time, this may be the way to go. Most people would like to stay more than 3 days if they’re going to spend 2 or more driving, we get that. If that’s your thinking, it’s cool. Just let us know. We’ll officially have pieces moving and people at the house starting as early as the weekend before (25th & 26th), and no one will be evicted at the stroke of midnight on the 3rd. We’re pumped you want to be a part of this and we’ll make it work every year for everyone. You are most welcome.

Sounds like a dude fest. Is it a dude fest?

Guys, gals, non-binary pals — all are welcome. If hanging out in the mountains, drinking beer, eating calorie-dense food and putting in some sweat equity sounds like a good time to you, come on out.

What are we eating?

We’ll certainly have an Oktoberfest night with brats and meats in tube form of all kinds. Maybe two nights. We might smoke some boudin-stuffed chickens, as well. And we’ll make some stops at the local Detroit-style pizza place. Beyond that, bring your chips, pretzels, taffy (no judgment) or whatever it is you’d like to have a lot of when you’re throwing back beers.

What are we drinking?

Brewmaster Mark is already hard at work in the laboratory on some custom brews to have on tap. And knowing this crowd, we trust everyone will not be able to help themselves, and will end up grabbing a few packs of whatever it is they like, as well. The more the merrier.

What can I pay for?

Other than your $50 donation that goes entirely toward our donation fee for Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers, nothing is required. Buy some snacks, buy some beer. We trust you. We’re all in this together. That’s the point.

I have friends that would dig this, can I invite them?

We’re expecting a capacity crowd, but we’ll hear you out. Just reach out to Max or Mark about what you’re thinking.

I hear Colorado has legalized things my state hasn’t, y’all down with that?

Word.

Is there commemorative merch?

Hell yeah, and it will change every year. You can put in your order with your RSVP, and pay on site when you arrive in Colorado. Deadline for orders is Sep. 1.

I can’t make it, but I think this is a good cause. Where can I donate?

Hey, we won’t stop you. You can shoot beer money to Max via Venmo (@maxuzaka) or donate directly to RFOV.
